As we reflect on over 60 years at HMI, many have given and received from the community of employees known through the years as Hurckman Mechanical. Little did Frank Hurckman realize the impact his decision to start a business would have on generations to come. Originally began out of need, he started HMI from the skills he acquired from a lifetime of professional development within the sheet metal industry. As a 62 year old with a young family to feed, he planted his meager $2,000 and a gift of some equipment…along with credit extended by local business leaders who respected his word into the future. What grew from his honest work ethic was the thriving and growing Hurckman Mechanical Industries Inc. you see today. Founded on the virtue of honesty, HMI continues to embrace our on-going strategic principle of “no empty promises”.
The original office was located in our home at 217 Oxford St (1953-1967), and the shop was located at 154 North Pearl St. Once called Hurckman Metal & Roofing, in 1967 our name was changed to Hurckman Metal Incorporated and was located at 1222 Windford Ave (1967-1971). Franklin Benjamin Hurckman retired in 1972 and John Franklin Hurckman took the helm of HMI. Once again a move was necessary due to the growth & success of the company. Hurckman Metal Incorporated moved to 1441 Donald St. (1974-Present). In 1983 the name changed to Hurckman Mechanical Industries Incorporated when the Lindsley Plumbing and Heating Company was acquired. Eventually, we also added the Carrier dealership of Hurckman Heating and Cooling and the TAC dealership of ConTech Network, divisions of HMI. In 1994 Hurckman Mechanical Industries corporate office moved to 1450 Velp Ave and remains at this location today. In 2005 our family business began the transition into a third generation with Brad Franklin Hurckman taking over as President. HMI will continue to serve the Green Bay and surrounding communities with excellence.
What began as a way to support a family has grown into a technically superior group of associates offering commissioning, test and balance, customer support and mechanical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We’re proud to say no other contracting company offers this seamless ability, known for our service and “one-stop” source for Commercial and Industrial HVAC, Process Piping, Plumbing, Fire Sprinkler and Insulation.
At HMI we say a hearty “thank you” to Franklin Benjamin Hurckman, Ann Florence Hurckman and everyone who has been involved with HMI through the years.
