Hurckman Mechanical Industries (HMI) is proud to announce that we’ve been awarded the Wisconsin Workplace Safety Award for medium-sized construction companies. This honor was presented at the Wisconsin Safety Council’s Annual Conference on April 14, 2025, in the Wisconsin Dells.
The Workplace Safety Awards program—sponsored by Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development and M3 Insurance—recognizes companies that prioritize construction safety and invest in safety programs that go above and beyond OSHA requirements. In its 31st year, the program has only honored about 200 companies across the state, making this a milestone achievement for our team at HMI.
A Culture Built on Safety Standards
HMI received this recognition for our employee-first, proactive approach to safety. With 1.8 million hours worked without a lost-time incident, an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of 0.73, and a spotless OSHA record with no OSHA recordable incidents, our commitment to safety is reflected in every corner of our job sites.
“I’m incredibly proud of our team’s commitment to safety,” said Cory Delwiche, Safety Director at HMI. “This award reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone. We’ve built a strong foundation of safety standards and protocols, and we’ll continue to improve and evolve to ensure well-being on our job sites.”

Going Beyond Compliance: Real Safety Training That Works
At HMI, safety training and protocols are more than compliance—they’re a way of life. Our comprehensive safety program includes:
- Specialized safety plans for employees with medical conditions
- Emergency preparedness training and scenario-based drills
- Frequent site inspections and safety audits
- Continuous improvements to ergonomics, fall protection, and hazard awareness
These practices help reduce risk, prevent incidents, and ensure a safe environment that meets and exceeds OSHA requirements.
“Our safety culture has always been a cornerstone of our success,” added Jake Warden, President of HMI. “I’m proud to build on HMI’s long history of excellence in employee safety awards and training. Safety has always been a core value, and I look forward to strengthening that culture as we move toward even higher goals.”
Recognizing Our People: Safety Awards for Employees
This award isn’t just about policies—it’s about people. Every safe hour worked is a reflection of our employees’ dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards on the job. We believe that safety awards for employees like this highlight the importance of building a workplace where everyone feels responsible and empowered.
