New Service Center
In-slab tubing designed for worker comfort
The Challenge
If you’re going to build a new service center in Wisconsin, you might not want to do it in winter. However, that was exactly the challenge in this project. The new building consolidated operations from multiple sites in Rhinelander and was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. The customer wanted a system that was green, delivered a high level of cost savings, and one that met a tight construction timeline in the dead of winter.
The Solution
Construction began in November, but by January HMI crews were installing all 80,000 lineal feet of in-slab tubing. Our work crews installed up to 6,500 lineal feet of tubing per day in order to meet construction deadlines. Together with a traditional ventilation system, this system helped control ozone depletion by using fewer refrigerants.
The Results
The HVAC system we installed continually evaluates air temperature/speed, radiant temperature and relative humidity to deliver maximum comfort for employees.
