Position Summary
The Corporate Counsel will provide legal guidance and support across Hurckman Mechanical Industries, Inc. and its related business operations. This position will work closely with company leadership and internal departments to support contract management, legal compliance, risk mitigation, corporate governance, employment matters, and other legal needs. The ideal candidate is a practical, detail-oriented legal professional who can understand the company’s operations and provide sound, business-minded legal guidance.
Essential Job Functions

- Review, draft, negotiate, and manage company contracts and agreements.
- Provide legal guidance to help identify, assess, and mitigate business and contractual risks.
- Monitor and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Assist with corporate governance matters, including maintaining corporate records and supporting required filings and documentation.
- Manage relationships and matters involving outside legal counsel, including coordinating assignments and monitoring legal expenses.
- Provide guidance and support on employment-related legal matters, including policies, employee relations, and compliance.
- Assist with collection efforts, including reviewing accounts, preparing documentation, and coordinating with outside counsel or other parties as needed.
- Research legal issues and provide practical recommendations to company leadership and internal departments.
- Assist with the development, review, and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal records, agreements, and documentation.
- Support other legal and business matters as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Wisconsin Bar, or ability to obtain admission within a reasonable timeframe, preferred.
- No prior professional experience required.
- Knowledge of contract law, corporate law, employment law, regulatory compliance, and general legal principles.
- Knowledge of legal research methods and the ability to interpret laws, regulations, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify, assess, and mitigate potential legal and business risks.
- Ability to draft, review, interpret, and manage contracts and other legal documents.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to exercise sound legal judgment and provide practical, business-minded recommendations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive and privileged information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with company leadership, internal departments, and outside counsel.
- Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external parties.
