Position Summary
As an Electrical Project Manager at HMI, you will oversee electrical construction projects from initiation through completion, working closely with engineering, field teams, and clients to deliver customized electrical solutions for industrial and commercial facilities. You will manage project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and inspections, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations through effective team coordination. Responsibilities include negotiating contracts, tracking project costs, preparing technical documentation, and resolving field issues throughout construction. Strong communication, leadership, and technical expertise are essential as you serve as the primary liaison between clients, field teams, and internal stakeholders while ensuring projects meet technical requirements, schedule expectations, and profitability goals.

- Develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate design reviews, bidding, negotiations, and project award activities for assigned electrical projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and field teams throughout the project lifecycle to define project scope, review drawings, and evaluate equipment specifications, cost estimates, and other key project documents.
- Manage electrical projects during construction by coordinating the work of electrical subcontractors, inspectors, and internal support personnel.
- Serve as the primary liaison with owners and stakeholders for project-related communication, progress updates, and issue resolution.
- Track and manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure electrical projects meet quality standards, customer expectations, and applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Manage project costs, client billings, and collections; prepare and submit accurate project billings in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and prepare project status reports as needed.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges; prepare and respond to RFIs, change orders, and other documentation related to electrical scopes of work.
- Attend project-related construction meetings and conduct jobsite visits to monitor project progress, quality, and safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Three (3) or more years of project management experience in electrical contracting, commercial or industrial electrical construction, or related construction project management.
- Strong ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schedules, and technical specifications.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, and project coordination.
- Prior field experience as a journeyman or foreman electrician, or equivalent working knowledge of electrical installations, is highly preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook); experience with project management or scheduling software is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, manage relationships, and effectively lead project teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to access active construction job sites, including climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and inspecting electrical installations, with or without reasonable accommodations.
