Position Summary

The Industrial Pipe Drafter/Modeler creates new drawings and reproduces existing drawings to develop fabrication-level spools for the manufacturing and installation teams. This role includes preparing all necessary documentation and coordinating designs for installation by Hurckman Mechanical’s manufacturing and field construction teams. The Industrial Pipe Drafter/Modeler plays a key role in bringing more work into a controlled environment to increase quality, traceability, and efficiency during installation.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist with utilizing point cloud scans collected by Field Engineers to create precise drawings.
• Assist with producing fabrication-level drawings from existing drawings.
• Prepare detailed drawings, including all necessary pipe spooling information, such as spool mapping, weld joints, and mechanical connections.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with general contractors, customers, and internal team members.
• Demonstrate an understanding of industrial piping components, including material types and joint configurations.
• Utilize engineering software and tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and project tracking tools to support design and project management tasks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• No degree is required for this position; however, a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an associate degree in a related field is helpful.
• At least one year of experience modeling in Revit.
• At least three years of experience in pipe drafting.
• Knowledge of piping fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, ACC, and Bluebeam.
• Ability to access job sites, including climbing, crawling, kneeling, walking, and performing other necessary movements to inspect systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain a professional, cooperative demeanor with internal and external customers under pressure.
